The Expert SEO System has a built in bug reporting system. So if ESS detects an issue it may stop and pop up a bug report window.
This may be shock if it pops up but really there is no need for panic. This really is for your benefit. Read on…..
You will have a few options in the window including “close Application” and “Continue Application”.
However you will also see a link to “Send A Bug Report”. If you click that and follow the prompts (about 30 seconds work) it will send a bug report back to us at ESS HQ. When sending you will see an activity bar in the lower right of your screen
If you add your name/email it will help us identify who sent the report and contact you if we need to to fix anything. We will only ever use the email to raise a support ticket on your behalf and communicate with you through the helpdesk.
Why do we have bug reports.
All software is generally complex and ESS is definitely complex. If you consider what it does and that it has to pull data from all over the internet and run on every type of PC and with every version of Windows OS. It is no mean feat to keep everyone working 100%.
With past software we relied on the end user raising support tickets with us to tell us that there was a problem. (and we still want you to do that!).
With bug reporting we can easily and rapidly get very detailed information back from ESS to tell us exactly what has hiccup’d.
This allows us to get bug fixes sorted faster (sometimes before anyone really notices there is an issue).
This is major step forward as we can pro-actively improve ESS. Much better than the old school “after the fact fixes”.
Why should I send bug reports
Sending bug reports helps us and you. Like I said above we can pro-actively address issues and get improvements made faster.
What do I do after I send a bug report.
That depends on the situation. If the error is something that is stopping you doing what you want to do with ESS, or an obvious problem then raise a helpdesk ticket.
In some cases you can simply click “Continue Application” and you can continue. In these cases you can decide whether to raise a support ticket or not. Basically if anything is a pain let us know.
If you find you are getting multiple bug report pop-ups you don’t need to send them all. Just the first one. In this case try rebooting the ESS application.
Don’t panic if you see bug report pop-up. It really is meant to do that. It is our system that will help us help each other to make ESS the best software it can be.
So thanks to everyone for your help
